Uncommitted 6-foot-1 160-pounds. Read has been one of my favorite players of the spring. The athleticism and competitiveness shows in all aspects of his game. He has one of best gloves I have seen this spring at SS, and can make the tough plays ranging to his right and left. He is heads up on the bases, and has long, athletic strides while running. At the plate he has a wide, steady stance that generates power from the lower half, and keeps the bat in the zone throughout the swing. Read is a spark plug type player that makes everyone around him better, and get his team going when needed.

6-foot 160-pounds. Read put on a show at shortstop Monday night. He looks the part at SS with an athletic frame, and good actions. The arm strength is his biggest attribute, he had a couple plays that were in the hole that appeared to be an easy single, but turned into an out when he ranged to his right, and threw a bullet to first. Players like Jon Jon will excel at the next level because he can play anywhere on the field, and will be consistent enough with his bat to keep him in the line up.
