5/2017 - Fastball ranges from 90-96. Breaking ball is more slider like. Average pitch. Good delivery, arm works. Athletic off the mound.
DRAFT 2020: Physically resembles Corey Kluber at 6-foot-4, 215 pounds. Hancock features a 93-96 mph fastball thrown from a three-quarter slot and shows good life down in the zone. He has some effort with a slight head snap, yet blocks his front side well and has good extension out front with a slight crossbody landing which produces good angle to the plate. He works away from his arm with his body moving forward and his arm going back during his delivery, causing some concern for future injury, but does not affect his overall plus control. His best secondary offering is a plus-plus tumbling, low-spin changeup at 85-86 mph which generates much swing/miss from both right and left-handed hitters. He sequences the pitch very well with his fastball while mixing in an occasional 82-85 mph solid average slider. Overall, Hancock is a strike-thrower (21 walks vs 131 strikeouts in his last 114 IP) with three better than average pitches and outstanding performance in the SEC. He is likely to be selected within the first five overall picks.
3/21/19: 6-foot-4, 200 pound sophomore righty with a 92-96 mph fastball thrown from a three-quarter slot. Showed good life down in the zone. Has some effort with a head snap, yet blocks his front side well and has good extension out front. Held 93-94 into the 6th inning. Slight crossbody landing produced good angle at times. Best secondary offering on this look was an above average changeup at 84-86 mph. Sequenced the pitch well with his FB. Also mixed in an 82-85 mph slider which was flat early, but showed improved tilt as the game progressed. Took the tough luck loss after throwing a career high 8 IP. Allowed one run on two hits with two walks and four strikeouts. He's an early first round prospect for the 2020 draft. (Seifert)
