Turning down significant pro interest as a top 3 round draft talent, Ross went undrafted this past July and made his way to Athens. A power pitcher, Ross can run his heat up to 99 mph, but more often sits 93-96 with ride. He also possesses and out pitch split change in the 83-85 mph range, as well as a similar velocity spiked slider. The 6-foot-5, 260-pounder attended Eastern Kentucky as a freshman in 2020, pitching just four innings. He then transferred to NW Florida State where he developed into the No. 1 rated JC prospect by Prep Baseball Report for the 2021 draft. He's able to repeat a sound delivery with good body awareness, especially someone his size. Although in contention for a weekend starting role at Georgia, Ross profiles as a late inning pen arm at the professional level.
2021 MLB Draft: Committed to Georgia, Ross has a big, strong frame at 6-foot-5, 240 pounds and a compact arm action. He's physically mature and the arm swing varies at times, but works cleanly. The strength plays and his fastball is difficult for hitters to square up, sitting 95-97. He goes to his slider early and often, sitting 87-90 and showing above average at times. He also has a mid-80s changeup.
