9/15/2018- Ozone Sports Organizational Scout Day

Shope is a good looking you 2022 prospect from Cherokee Bluffs.  He has an excellent young frame at 6-foot-2 160-pounds. Shope has a up tempo delivery with a stab. He looks similar to Jared Weaver out of the glove, and gives him deception. His fastball only ticked up to 78, but there is more coming as he adds strength to his wiry frame, and should produce even more life out of the hand as he starts to play with a 2-seamer more.  But for now he needs to continue to build arm strength by letting it fly with his 4-seam fastball. He shows feel for a slider, that will sharpen as he adds velocity. The thing that excited me about Shope the most is his ability to throw an action change-up at this stage in the game. The pitch has big late depth before entering the strike zone and paired with his deception has a chance to be a true out-pitch in the future.  He needs to make a commitment to getting stronger, but should throw harder with natural progressions at this point. Excited about Shope;s upside and will be a close follow for us.
