Uncommitted. 5-foot-9, 160 pounds. While I had never seen Virani before this matchup with Buford, he’s certainly going to be an interesting follow going forward. This is the bonafide closer for the Falcons, and he attacked an immensely talented lineup with zero fear, feeding them a steady diet of sweeping SL’s and running+sinking FB’s. The most impressive part about his outing though, was by the 7th hitters were sitting on the SL and still had absolutely no chance of hitting it. I would love to know the metrics on this pitch, because I would honestly be surprised if it isn’t getting 20 inches of HZB. This pitch was starting behind the backs of RHH, and ending up on the outside corner for more than a handful of whiffs. Although I wasn’t able to get good video on him from behind the plate, that will certainly be a focus on the next Dacula matchup I see this spring. If he can get it done against the Wolves ridiculously talented lineup, he surely can be an asset to a college program.
