Duke recruit. The 6-foot-2, 200 pound LHP/OF has a strong, durable frame. Comes through the ball well in the outfield. Arm works, accurate throws, topped at 84 mph. Offensively, the left-handed hitter has a simple swing. Tends to shift and work out over the front foot, but uses the lower half and his present strength well. Had an exit velocity of 94 mph. On the mound, he shows a feel to pitch. Locates down to both sides of the plate with all three pitches. Fastball was up to 84 mph, but there is much more in the tank.
3/23/17
The freshman was impressive on the mound carrying the no hitter into the fifth. He was mechanically sound with his delivery and threw a ton of strikes with a fastball that ranged from 80-82 mph. He also showed the ability to spin the curveball at 74-76 mph and a feel for a changeup at 77 mph. He will be an interesting pitchability lefty who’s stuff should continue to improve with strength.
8/26/16
The lefty sat at 78 mph with his fastball from a 3/4 slot with a short arm action. The changeup was 67 mph with the slider being 65-66 mph. Showed a feel for all three pitches.
