2/19/20 - South Florida commit. 6-foot-2, 200 pound physical, tough hitter with anger in the bat. Looks to hurt the ball, but hitting mechanics are pretty sound. I think there’s power in there that will play down the road. Also a quality glove at first base with avg hands and a plus arm. Took a very hard-hit ground ball off the shoulder last night with a great response, but he wouldn’t rub it.
2/3 - Big strong body with loose actions for a big guy and a plus arm. Swing has some length with some quickness and strength. Has power in bat. Aggressive approach. Very confident player.
3/26/19: At 6-foot-2, 220 pounds, Genord is an imposing presence at the plate. He's aggressive, balanced and takes good hacks while staying connected. He grips it and rips it, wanting to elevate and pull for the long ball. Consistently gets to where he wants to be with his swing, but, on this look, he consistently pulled off the baseball and was unable to get extension through it. Besides the finish to his swing, he did everything else really well in the batter's box. Showed plus raw power during batting practice and recognized breaking balls during the game. For the season Genord is slashing .344/.461/.667 with seven home runs and more walks than strikeouts and ranks No. 6 in D1 Baseball's First Base Power Rankings. He is a well below average runner and likely limited to first base defensively, but as a former high school catcher he has sure hands and an accurate arm with a quick release. He showed all of these abilities on a smooth and swift 3-6-3 double play. After turning down a chance to sign professionally as the 19th round draft pick of the Dodgers in 2018, Genord will most likely be selected in the top 10 rounds this June as a money saver senior.
