3/21/21
Maryland Preseason All-State Session II
Body: 6’0’’, 150 pounds. Long and projectable frame with a high-waisted build. Hit: RHH. Open, loose setup with a slight bend in the knees as the barrel rested on the shoulder. Utilized a lift and replace stride in order to initiate the bat head through a flat path into the hitting zone. Repeatable, adjustable stroke and got off good swings with consistency. Minor weight-shift through the front side generating some leverage at the front of the plate; mostly middle of the field approach during batting practice. A 67% line drive rate played admirably into his desired result while accruing a standout 53% hard hit rate (batted balls over 90 mph) as well. Power: 96 mph exit velocity during BP per TrackMan. Easy doubles power at the moment with ability to run it out of the yard to pull if he catches it right (331 foot peak batted ball distance). Arm: RH. OF - 81 mph. Loose, high ¾ slot with good carry and accuracy towards the plate. Defense: Got the chest downhill early with active footwork arriving on time. Weight and posture was over the toes allowing for good pace and a quick trigger from his position during defensive evaluations. Projects to slot into a LF position for now. Run: 7.01 60-yard time.
Delivery: Started with a side rocker from the middle of the rubber, rhythm present initiating into an athletic, high leg lift at chest height with hip coil at the top; worked out of the stack with intent on the drive towards the plate. Connected actions yielding smooth actions on the way through, finished his pitches well in a slightly upright, balanced position. Arm Action: RH. Loose, whippy high ¾ slot with repeatability. FB: T81 mph, 80-81 mph. Average spin rate of 1866 rpm. Heavy action down at the bottom of the zone from a high release height paired with low spin traits. CB: 62-64 mph. Average spin rate of 1484 rpm. Developing offering that will need to see higher spin to be slightly more effective.
