6-foot-2, 170 pounds, lean and loose, a true athlete on the mound. Early in his physical development, expect him to add strength to the frame in the coming seasons. Rosa throws his four pitch mix from a high ¾ slot. He stays inline during his delivery but can continue improving his command in the zone. The arm is whippy and he has a slight back shoulder drop in the delivery. The fastball gets plenty of movement and is advanced for his age, ranging from 83-85 mph with the ability to touch higher. His curveball can get a little slurvy though his best ones have a more traditional 11/5 break, coming in between 71-73 mph. The slider is thrown a touch harder, at 74-75 mph with good horizontal action and tilt on the pitch. Rosa has shown the ability to produce swings-and-misses with both offerings at a high level. Will need to continue refining a changeup for the next level to help compete against opposing handed hitters. Good current production to go with his potential. Overall, Rosa is a major follow in the 2020 class and is already receiving looks from division one programs.
PROCASE 6-foot-2, 170-pound right-handed pitcher. Pitches out of a ¾ slot, arm swing is long on the back and quick out front. Tucks the glove as he gets into foot strike, and shows the ability to repeat his direction. The fastball has good life, sits 86-87 mph with good arm side run and action to it. The fastball, alone, is a winnable pitch for him. The breaking pitch is 75-76 mph and still wide in spin, could be a legit pitch as he progresses. The changeup is mid 70’s, shows fade and sink to the pitch at times. Good looking young arm.
2017 Future Games 6-foot-2, 175 pound long wiry strong athletic frame, back is wide has plenty of room to fill out. A right-handed pitcher, who projects out to have two above average pitches at the next level, showed extremely well at the Future Games, pitched two solid innings. The arm works out of a high ¾ slot, gets squared up to the plate on release, could stay over the rubber a tick longer, with getting the leg raise to have some coil to it, getting loaded up. Pitches downhill, located down in the zone, and threw the fastball to both sides of the plate. The fastball was clocked at 83-85 mph, with a sprinkle of a few 87 mph as well. The breaking ball is more slurvey, clocked at 72-75 mph, was thrown for strikes. The changeup is a work in progress. Big time follow, being recruited by multiple division one schools across the country.
