7.17.18
6-foot, 150-pound, average athletic frame, neck is long, looks to be wiry strong has room for added strength. A right-handed hitting outfielder, shows to have some fast twitch movements to him. At the plate, feet are slightly wider than shoulder width, are even, hands are relaxed at the shoulders with the bat having tilt to it, in a good loaded position. The hands have some pre pitch movement to them. For timing uses a smooth controlled toe tap, gains ground with stride foot. The swing is level to up, creates loft and backspin to the baseball. The approach is more gap to gap, has enough juice to get the baseball into the alleys. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 82 mph and ran an easy 4.56 down the line. Defensively, arm was clocked at 80 mph, arm action is short and clean, baseball comes out of a natural ¾ slot. The footwork is clean, good approach into the baseball, uses more of a shuffle, quick transfer and release. Look for the game to continue to rise, strength is a must will aid in the development.

6-foot-0, 150 pounds, lean frame with average athletic proportions, has chance to add some strength heading into his senior year. A right-handed hitter, Darby stands even in the box and employs a leg kick to trigger the swing. The hands work fluidly and loosely from the shoulders with a smooth load to hitting position. Good extension through the point of contact finishing with one hand. Showed feel for hitting from pull side to the opposite field gap, spraying a number of line drives, while his exit velocity was measured up to 84 MPH. Defensively, Darby showed off a solid arm from right field clocked up to 82 MPH. Long, clean arm swing at the back releasing from a high ¾ slot. Average foot speed, likely profiling him for a corner spot. Can work to improve the footwork to gain ground when making plays. Worth going to see live to gauge the hit tool against opposing pitchers, as he showcased feel for the barrel and solid defensive chops.
