Nason Busca: OF/C, (2022) out of Windsor, CT. is a projectable 5-foot-10, 175-pound prospect. In the box, the left-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 83 MPH, with a (66.99 mph bat speed average) and (23.35 mph hand speed average). Busca begins in a wide, balanced stance with the hands set off the back shoulder. He wraps the bat as he loads, then uses a small stride to initiate a loose, uphill loose swing. During his round, he showed a gap to gap approach and a balanced finish. In the outfield, his throws reached 78 MPH. As he worked through the defensive portion, he showed he had sure developing hands, a clean exchange, and consistent developing footwork. Behind the plate, his best throw downs of the day reached 73 MPH, with a pop time of 2.02. His initial stance is athletic. The feet are square, the head is up, with the glove set in the middle of the chest. As he transitioned to throw, he showed he had soft hands, consistent footwork, and a clean transfer. During the event, he also recorded a 60 time of 7.32.

2/27/21

5-foot-10, 165-pound sturdy frame. Above average in the box, Busca's best exit velocity was 82 mph. Started in an athletic stance with a controlled load, then used a short stride. Bat speed is quick, has a flat swing plane and good extension on his finish. He found multiple barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap approach.  Above average from the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 79 mph; has consistent feet, sure hands, and a quick exchange. Fielded the ball to the side with athletic movements laterally. Behind the plate, throw downs to second were maxed at 74 mph; shows quick feet, firm hands, and a twitchy exchange. Produced pop times of 2.05-2.16. Athletic setup with tons of flexibility.

2/22/20

5-foot-9, 145-pound, average athletic frame, showing to have wiry strength with twitchy movements. A left-handed hitting catcher/outfielder, runs well above average, quick, fast feet, ran home to 1st in 4.18. At the plate, even feet, front foot closed off. The hands are super loose and relaxed, with pre-pitch movement to them. The swing works with easy effort through the zone, barrel has life and whip, showing to have more of a pull approach. Stays through the baseball, creating loft at the end of the swing. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 74 mph, with more in there as he physically matures.  Defensively, threw 79 mph from the outfield short quick arm action. The approach is athletic, gains ground. Should be able to go get it in the gaps, gets off the blocks quickly.  Behind the plate, threw 71 mph, had a pop time of 2.18-2.38. The setup is shorter, sits with a taller back, feet gain ground on the transfer. The arm action is clean working from 3/4 slot. Look for the bat to play at some point, projects for me more in outfield with ability to track the baseball.

5-foot-8, 140-pound left-handed hitting catcher. Ran a 8.3 sixty on the laser at the event. The batting practice session was excellent. The setup is even in base, bottom half is under control throughout. The path is simple and flat to contact. Needs to add strength to the frame as he matures. The hands work well. The tee exit velocity was 73 mph. The catching skill set is solid at his age, throwing 70 mph to second base. The pop time was 2.3. The receiving is soft, needs to continue to work on securing the catch. Worked out in the outfield as well, throwing 72 mph after an aggressive approach.

5-foot-7, 130-pound, smaller athletic frame, has strength for his age and size. A left-handed hitting catcher, top tool is bat. At the plate, feet start even to closed off, hands are relaxed at the shoulders, bat starts in more of a flat position. Small pick up and put down, gains ground with stride foot. The swing is flat through the zone, finishes with one hand at the shoulders. Looks to release early, could stay on it longer. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 69 mph. Defensively, had a pop time of 2.50 with a shorter arm action, at times throws up hill, needs to flatten release and reach out front. The arm was clocked at 64 mph. The footwork is quick gains ground, quick athletic steps. Strength is a must will aid in development.
