6/20/17

6-foot-2, 205 pound, agile, filling out, catcher with the right body type for the position, great target. He’s a high school catcher still drilling consistency into his mechanics behind the plate but has the tools package to be a plus defender at the collegiate level, hitting 79 MPH on his throws to second. Pop times impressed varying from 1.88-2.03, flashing the potential to help control the running game against higher level competition. Average release, more refinement of his craft could make the low 1.9s the norm. At the dish, Donlan’s feet are more than shoulder width apart giving him a balance base and the wrists load up by the head, and is upright in the box. The swing is short to the ball, gets a little long after contact, needs to stay on it all the way. Showed the ability to drive it to all fields, with added reps and more strength could be a power guy down the road. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 83 mph. Definitely a follow throughout the summer and fall.

Home - First: 5.03

Exit Velocity: 83 mph

Arm Velocity: 79 mph

7/12/16

6-feet, 185 pounds, catcher with a big and athletic frame, who give pitchers wide target to throw to behind the plate. Offensively, right handed hitter with good swing, stance is slightly wider than shoulder width and starts open to even finish. Hands are loose and smooth throughout the swing. Ball jumps off the bat to all fields. Defensively, throwing arm is above average, clocked at 81 mph to second base. Flashed pop times from 1.97-2.05 seconds, transfer from glove to hand is quick, arm is slightly long on backside but makes up for it with velocity on throw, feet show good balance of lower half on throw. Time down the line was 4.87 seconds. One of the better catchers in the state of CT. Definite high follow for me.
