On the mound, Ellis worked out of a quick, high ¾ arm slot that produced a fastball that sat 83-84 mph (Max spin 2216; Avg 2102) with late sink. His delivery is simple, easy and in line with home plate. He separates well, gets to a good balance point and lands square with a clean finish. He also threw a tight slider (67-70 mph).
