The athlete's fastest 60-yard dash time in the given event year. Measured in seconds (s)
7.15
Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
6-foot, 160-pound left-handed pitcher and outfielder. Ran a 7.15 sixty on the laser at the event. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 85 mph. The setup is even in base, small step into the swing. The path is uphill and long, needs to add physical strength to aid the bat. The hands are clean. On the mound, the fastball sat 79-80 mph, arm side run to the pitch. The spin pitch is big in shape, sitting at 69 mph. The changeup is a work in progress. The delivery is online with the feet, and above 3/4 in slot. The arm works free and clean. The lift and go is repeated, good athlete.
Tee Exit Velocity - 85 mph
3/06/19
5-foot-10, 140-pound, longer, thin wiry strong athletic frame, with room for added weight gains. A left-handed pitcher, arm action is super loose and whippy, working out of a ¾ slot. The delivery is controlled, coil to his high leg raise. The stride length is inline and longer, upper half, leaks just a tick forward, could stay back longer. The fastball reached 79 mph, with down action to it, 2-seamer has a chance to be an above average pitch. The curveball has tilt and depth clocked at 68 mph, late biting action to it. Continues to show feel for the changeup, works off the fastball well in the low 70’s. Look for velocity to spike at some point, arm is clean and projectable.
6/20/18
5-foot-10, 140 pounds, lean build, sloped shoulders, average proportions, should continue adding strength as he enters his junior year. Ran a 7.51 sixty yard dash. Hitting from the right-side, he sets up even in the box. Has some loft in the bat path. Small step while hands drop upon lead foot plant. Hands start right above the back shoulder. Better second round of BP once he had timing down. Needs to prove the hit tool in game action against live pitching. Potential to develop gap power. His tee exit velocity was measured at 78 MPH. Working out as an outfielder, Hussey’s throws were clocked up to 81 MPH, coming out from a ¾ slot. Fluid actions fielding the ball, athletic crow hop, gets body into the throws which featured some carry to the bag. A left-handed pitcher, Hussey throws from a high ¾ slot on the mound. Controlled leg lift, good stride length extending down the mound, online with mechanics. Hides the ball well on the backside. The fastball has late life to the armside, coming in at 72-75 MPH. Moved the ball well in the zone changing hitter’s eye level. Also works in a 12/6 curveball that sat 66-67 MPH. Good depth and break on the pitch, potential to become a true out pitch. Mixes in a changeup between 68-70 MPH. Matches armside movement of the fastball, and expanding the velo differential off the fastball should help it become even more of a weapon long-term. Solid two-way prospect capable of taking a step forward as a position player or pitcher with further physical development.
5-foot-11, 140 pounds, wiry build with sloped shoulders. Still maturing physically with the frame to add strength as he continues developing in the coming high school seasons. The swing is simple from the right side with a level-up bat path. Solid contact skills already on display with the potential to add power to his offensive profile, with an exit velocity off the tee recorded at 78 MPH. Hussey stands upright and even in the box. He employs a leg kick as a timing mechanism and engages the lower half along with hip rotation, finishing strong with one hand. His hands are quiet, starting high at the shoulders as he tracks the pitch. On the defensive side, Hussey moves his feet well with athletic movements and fluidity. The ball carries well out of the hand, already up to 77 MPH, and should only improve from here. Releases throws from a high ¾ slot and gets full body into it. Off the mound this lefthander, works out of a ¾ to high ¾ slot. The delivery has some forward lean to it, but does a good job catching up and getting back on time for release of the baseball. Looks to stay tall and inline throughout, finishing with good extension and a high back leg follow through. The fastball reached 74 mph. The breaking ball had slurvy action to it, thrown for strikes, was clocked at 66-67 mph. The change up was clocked at 67-70 mph, at times cuts it, when is behind the baseball, has fade to arm side. Good looking two way player, time will tell which way he will end up, solid follow.
