6-foot-2, 220-pound, large, wide, strong athletic frame. A right-handed hitter, feet are even and slightly wider than shoulder width. The hands are set at the shoulders, for timing uses a large smooth leg kick, gets the weight on the back side, gains ground with stride foot. The swing is level through the zone, rolls early, could let it travel a tick longer, finishes the swing with two hands. The approach is more to the pull side, had a tee exit 86 mph, handa re strong baseball comes off the bat well. Defensively, gets off the bag well at first and moves well. The hands are soft on the catch, works low to the ground, the footwork was clean when starting the double play. The amr is short and clean on the backside, works with easy effort, clocked at 66 mph, had good touch on all throws to second and third. Look for the bat to continue to continue to improve.

6-foot-2, 220 pounds, thick lower half, good strength, broad back and shoulders, average proportions. Ran a 7.56 sixty yard dash. Size indicates there should be power potential to tap into down the road. Heavy rotational swing. Swing starts from a slightly open stance with some inversion in the lead leg, planting early after a minor kick. Hands work loosely from around the shoulders. Bat path has some loft to it, can get a little uphill at times. His tee exit velocity was measured at 84 MPH during this event. Working out at first base, Joy was clocked up to 66 MPH on throws across the diamond, working from a ¾ to high ¾ slot. Actions can be a little slow at the position, including with the arm. Quickening them should be the next step in his development. Solid glove comfortable making plays around the bag and handling scoops at the position. Also working out as a right-handed pitcher, the hands start high before dropping to the belt. Simple mechanics with a high leg kick, average extension down the mound. Joy’s three pitch mix include a fastball, curveball, and changeup. The fastball sits between 69-73 MPH. The curveball, which featured a 12/6 shape to the break, came in between 61-66 MPH, with the best ones at the higher end of the velocity spectrum, showing sharper break. The changeup came in firm at 66 MPH. Future is likely as a position player, with burgeoning game power giving him a shot to become a middle of the order bat.

The lower half is under control, has a short stride, staying balanced throughout. The swing is level and finishes with two hands, could stay through it longer, has much more in the swing at the bat end. The tee exit velocity is advanced for his age at 89 mph. Defensively, is a large target to throw to at first base. The feet work well, drop step and glove side turn are smooth. The arm action is short, clean throws from his ear, was clocked at 68 mph. Off the mound, repeats the delivery with ease, it's simple, hands start at the midsection and stay throughout. The frontside is strong, pulls off at the end just so slightly. The arm action is clean, works out of a higher ¾ slot, fastball was clocked at 69-73 mph. The breaking ball was thrown softer at 61-66 mph, thrown for strikes, had top to bottom rotation. The changeup was clocked at 66 mph. Big follow, has a chance to hit with power, conditioning is a must.
