8/9/17
5-foot-10, 195 pounds, sloped shoulders already starting to strength, room to strengthen the core. Strong lower half. Ran a 4.68 home-first. At third base, Jose showed off a good arm that touched as high as 83 mph across the diamond (a seven mph spike in last calendar year). Throws from a ¾ to high ¾ slot with good carry. Moves feet well going laterally. Charges hard, fields ball out in front of the body. Fluid double play turns from the corner. Fluidity in his actions. Offensively, he stands open to even at the plate with the feet shoulder width apart. The hands work well, creating leverage and plus pop. Already gap-to-gap power with room to grow. Posted a 90 mph exit velocity off the tee and showed the same juice during batting practice. Accelerates through the point of contact with a level-up swing. As a pitcher, stays inline throwing from a higher slot. He worked the fastball between 76-78 mph. The pitch is heavy as opposing hitters pounded it into the dirt during game action. His curveball sat 63-65 mph. The curve has 12/6 shape and can get tighter spin, but flashes the potential to be a true swing-and-miss offering. Needs a third pitch long-term. Overall, Jose may profile best as a position player moving forward, with a good offensive game and a solid defensive package.
Home-First: 4.68
Exit Velocity: 90 MPH
Arm Velocity: 83 MPH

5-foot-10, 195-pound, strong physical frame, proportioned well. The hands and lower half have strength to them. A right-handed hitter who has good bat speed and strength in his swing. The approach is gap to gap, has above average power to the pull side. The stance is open to even, has a leg kick for timing and hands have movement to them with the lower half under control. The swing is powerful, it's down to level to up, finishes with one hand, creates backspin and leverage. The tee exit velocity was 85 mph, times down the line were 4.7. During the game, had a good swing on a good breaking ball took it back up the middle. Defensively, has good flow, hands and feet worked well together. The arm is above average for his age, clocked at 76 mph and he works out of a higher slot. The feet moving well to glove side and started the double play well. On the mound, the hands start and stay high, the direction is inline, the backside could stay slightly stronger, attacks and goes after the hitters. The fastball was 75-80 mph, it's a heavy ball pounded it to the arm side. The changeup has downward action with depth, clocked at 67-69 mph. The breaking ball was clocked at 65-69 mph, has more of slider action to it, needs to be thrown harder, he backs up at times. Projects for me as a third baseman, I like strength in the bat and toughness at third.

At 5-foot-9, 175 pounds the body is strong, showed strong hands and wrists. I was impressed with his workout, swung the bat very well in BP and even better in the game made solid contact in all his at bats. The stance is wide, the path is ok, gets uphill at times but produces good bat speed, the tee exit velocity was 85 and was 4.85 from home to first. In the field showed an arm of 77 across the diamond on the gun. Hands are good enough, needs to work on staying low and continuing to keep his feet moving towards target. Made the backhand play look simple, came through ball well. Off the mound fastball was 74-76, jabs the arm action a bit on the backside. The curveball was 63. The direction to the plate was good, could use the lower half a little more. Overall was impressed, shows some power potential, needs to continue to work on footwork.
