6-foot-1, 200 pounds, broad shoulders, strength in the upper and lower halves with average proportions. Working out as a left-handed pitcher, Strand throws from an overhand slot, creating downhill plane. Exclusively out of the stretch, the hand begin away from the body around the letters. Was online and able to repeat his mechanics and release point. Generates extension down the mound, driving hard off the back leg. Some deception in the mechanics, with a sitting action during his longer arm swing. Worked a four pitch mix. The fastball featured some tail and some sink, sitting 78-81 MPH. The curveball is still developing but flashed 12/6 action, coming in between 63-66 MPH. Continuing to hone feel for spin and ability to stay on top of the pitch will help it develop further. Worked in a cutter between 77-78 MPH, which featured some late horizontal movement and played well off the fastball. The changeup came in between 68-72 MPH. The best of the group featured some tumble and were thrown with same armspeed as the fastball. Worthy of follow up this summer based on his performance, where he struck out four in game, and showcased a promising arsenal that should play at the next level.
