Piazza is a 5-foot-6, 135 pound left-handed hitting outfielder. He hits out of an even set up, with the hands set just behind the back shoulder. The load is short and begins with a slight leg kick. The weight is shifted to the back leg and the hands get into a good launch position. The swing is short, with a slight lift through contact. His batting practice was solid and produced a top exit velocity of 80.7 MPH. He also ran an impressive 6.75 second sixty.
Defensively, Piazza had a max velocity of 75 MPH from the outfield with a short, quick arm swing. The feet were good as he worked to get into a fundamental fielding position. The transfer from ground ball to the throwing position is good. The ball gets behind and above the back shoulder, allowing him to work downhill.
