8/18/16

5-foot-11, 148-pound, thin wiry strong athletic frame, shoulders are sloped, has room to fill out. Worked out as a two-way guy, projects out for me off the mound. A left-handed pitcher, the delivery is simple and repeats it without much effort. The hands start low and work in sync with leg raise, could stay back slightly longer. The direction is in line and frontside glove is strong. The arm action is short and clean, fastball was 75-77 mph, located it down in the zone, cut and sink to it, threw a good amount of strikes. The curveball was at 68, with downward break, looks like this pitch has improved, thrown a tick harder than the past. The changeup is still his best pitch, good fade and sink to arm side, clocked at 67-70 mph. A left-handed hitter, balanced open to even stance, the hands work freely through the zone, stays on and through the baseball well. The tee exit velocity was 77 mph. From the outfield, routes and angles are good, was clocked at 77 mph, downhill and on target. Projects for me off the mound, needs to get stronger arm is clean, should have one good jump of velocity at some point, has some pitchability.

7/12/16

5-foot-11, 145 pounds, with a thin athletic frame. Left-handed pitcher who has some pitch ability and competes at a high level. The delivery is simple and repeatable, hands start at the waist and work in sync with the leg raise. The separation is clean, the front side stays in line, but could be slightly stronger. Fastball was 76-78 mph, worked down in the zone and has some sink to the two seamer. The change up is an above average pitch, clocked at 70-72 mph with good fade to the arm side. The breaking ball looked the best it has ever been, 68-71 mph, highest velocity yet for Eric. Tempo and times to the plate are good at 1.37. Offensively hits from a wide base, the path is flat and he finishes with one hand. The hands are quiet and it’s an easy swing. The tee exit velocity was 80 mph and he ran a 4.40 down the line. In game swings were good, he collected a single. Defensively in the outfield, routes and angles are good. The arm was clocked at 79 mph, throws were downhill and on the bag. Strength is still a must, velocity should jump at some point with the arm being so clean.

3/1/16
5-foot-10, 140-pound thin athletic frame, shoulders are sloped and he has plenty of room to fill out. A left-handed pitcher, the delivery is simple and repeatable. The hands are set high, are quiet and leg raise is high, with a small coil. The arm action is clean and works fluidly, comes out of a natural ¾ slot. The direction is straight, front side is closed when foot strikes, throws against a firm front side. The fastball was 77-78 mph, has little sink to arm-side. The breaking ball looked better this time around, better shape to it and was thrown at 63-65 mph. The changeup continues to be his best pitch, was clocked at 66-67 mph, throws it with good arm speed and is thrown for strikes. Times to the plate were 1.58, balanced throughout the delivery, strength is a must, velocity should climb as he gets stronger and with the clean arm action.
11/15/15
Second PBR event for Eric. Showed well again, the frame is thin and has lots of room to add weight on, shows athletic actions on the mound. The arm action is really clean and short on the backside. The delivery is sound and effortless, has an easy leg raise, hands are set just below the chin, however he collapses a little on the back leg. Arm comes at you out of a ¾ slot, has good sink and action to the arm side. Fastball is 76-80, pounds in well to the glove side. The changeup showed to be his best pitch again, is able to throw it for strikes and back to back as well. The breaking pitch is still a work in progress, as he gets stronger should turn into short slider/cutter. Strength is a must, seems to me he is working hard at it. Left handed pitchers that throw strikes and are athletic seem to win in college, good things ahead for him.
10/12/15-
At 5-foot-10, 140 pounds, the frame is on the thinner side but has tons of room to add muscle and weight. Is pretty athletic,  the body is free and loose with everything he does. Off the mound, comes at you from the left side, the motion is simple and easy. The arm action is short and clean on the back side. His fastball was in the mid-70s, touched 77. With added strength and physical maturation velocity should jump at some point. The change up is a plus pitch, sells it with entire motion. The curveball was thrown in mid-60s, needs to turn it into a short slider or cutter.  In the outfield showed good routes and footwork was solid, throws were on the bag. At the plate hits from an open to even stance. Hands are held just above shoulder height are loose with a good path to the ball. The tee exit velocity was 77 and ran 4.75 from home to first. The future looks bright, strength is a must.
