6-foot, 170-pound athletic lean frame. Above average in the box, Whitehead had an exit velocity of 87 mph. (71.53 mph bat speed average). (21.97 mph hand speed average). Starts in a tall quiet stance with a smooth rhythmic load, then uses a controlled toe tap stride. Bat speed was above average, showed a flat simple swing plane and level good extension on his finish. He created loud contact and found lots of barrels. Up the middle line drive approach. Solid advanced in the infield, displayed a velocity of 73 mph; had athletic smooth footwork, soft consistent hands, and a clean natural exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Used a short quick arm action with a high ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the bag. Clocked a time of 7.78 in the 60-yard dash. Solid on the mound, used a short loose arm action with a high ¾ arm angle while showing quick arm speed. Tall-and-fall feel type pitcher who uses easy effort. Showed strong balance point with in line shoulders. Lands square with an athletic finish. Slider (67-71 mph). Threw his fastball 73-75 mph; showed both sides of the plate command and running sinking action. (Max spin 1965; Avg 1863). His 1/7 curveball (66-68) showed late slurvey action and glove side command. (Max spin 1973; Avg 1973). His changeup has fading action and arm side control.
