2-18-17

6-foot, 165-pound long, length athlete. The neck is long, shoulders are sloped, back is wide, the frame has plenty of room to fill out. A right-handed hitter, the stance is balanced throughout, feet are inline and are wider than shoulder width apart. The hands are loose at shoulder height, bat starts in a good position, the hands are short and quick to the baseball. The swing is down to level to up, stays through and finishes with one hand above the shoulder. The approach is middle of the field, gap to gap, peppered the back wall with line drives. The bat speed is good, look for it to jump as he gets stronger. Defensively, plays the hot corner, feet move well especially to glove side, covers a lot of ground. The hands are soft, gets them out front, with fingers to the ground. The transfer is quick, arm action is average length for an infielder, opens it slightly early on the backside, ball comes out of a high ¾ slot. The arm was clocked at 72 from 3B and 74 for from shortstop. Off the mound, works out of the set position. The hands start low, raise up with leg raise, separation is on time, the direction is inline, stride foot could be longer. The arm action is longer off the mound than in infield. The slot is ¾, fastball was clocked in the mid 70’s, 4 seam fastball had bore action to it, it's heavy and located it well to both sides. The breaking ball has good 12/6 rotation to it, was thrown for strikes, clocked at 66 mph. The changeup was clocked at 70 mph, has fade and comes out of the same slot as fastball. Time will tell which side of the field he will play on, I like his athletic ability to play defense and the swing works, good follow.
