A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Curveball

Brandon SanMarco: RHP/1B, (2024) Daniel Hand, CT. 5-foot-10, 170-pound physical strong frame. (69.2 mph bat speed average). (20.5 mph hand speed average). Projectable raw on the mound, used a loose arm action and a high ¾ arm angle while showing quick arm speed. Tall-and-fall up-tempo type pitcher who uses some effort. Tall balance point with in line downhill shoulders. Lands square with an athletic upright finish. Sat with his fastball at 76-78 mph; showed arm side control and sinking action with heavy movement. (Max spin 2301; Avg 2124). He showed glove side control and slurvey action on his 1/7 curveball (64-67). Had fading swing and miss action and arm side command on his changeup (70-73). Competes at a high level, loves his craft, projects out to be able to pitch at the next level.

(68.9 mph bat speed average). (20.9 mph hand speed average). Begins in a balanced athletic stance with a smooth load, then uses a controlled leg kick. Has above average bat speed, loose upward swing plane and good extension on his finish. He barreled up multiple balls with tons of loud contact. Gap to gap aggressive approach. Above average in the infield, his position velocity was registered at 80 mph; had soft hands, a clean natural exchange, and rhythmic footwork. Uses his glove out front. 5-foot-9, 163-pounds, stronger, solid, durable pitchers frame, good lower half. A two-way player, projects more for me off the bump. Off the mound, delivery is fluid, builds momentum getting down the mound, harder landing, with spin off at times. The arm is good, it's clean and works with minimal effort, out of a natural 3/4 slot. The fastball reached 78 mph, with bore action, comes out of the hand easily. The breaking ball is above average, spin rate is close to 2300, topped it at 69 mph. Look for the fastball to jump over time. Offensively, hits from the right-side, even feet, weight loaded on backside, a level to up path. Creates a good amount of backspin, approach is from gap to gap, had an exit velocity of 84 mph, collected multiple hits during the game. Defensively, moves very well around the bag at first. The glove is soft on the picks and showed a good arm across the diamond at 78 mph. Good follow off the mound, should be a guy next spring to see.
