6-foot-1, 200-pound,a prototypical third baseman, the frame is big and wide, well proportioned athlete. Defensively, shows soft hands and advanced footwork, especially starting the 5-4-3 double play. The arm action is short and quick, clocked at 81 mph from across the diamond. Offensively, hits from the right side, the hands are held high and stance is open to even. The path is level, finished with two hands, could stay through it slightly longer, gets a little rotational. Collected 2 hits and ran a 4.78 from home to first and a 7.62 laser 60 yard. On the mound, works out of a short, quick ¾ slot has some action the armside. In his one inning of work, the fastball was 82-84 mph, with breaking ball at 69-70 mph, has some slurve break to it, opens it early. Times to the plate are quick at 1.0, attacked and came after hitters. Projects for me as more of a third baseman.
7/28/15 At the plate hits from the right-side, has a small open stance, with elbow a bit high, uses a toe tap for timing purposes. The hands are quick and the path is good to the ball, the tee exit velocity was 86. Time from home to first was 4.77. In the field, showed an above average arm, velocity was 80 with good carry. Fielded all balls out front with good footwork and kept his body moving towards the target. The arm action was short and quick, the motion was clean and effortless, had good tempo to it. Fastball was 80-83 with good sink to arm-side. The breaking ball was more of a slurve, was thrown at 67-68 and had ok feel of a changeup thrown at 73. The body is big, thick and strong. Time will tell which way he goes, but a definite follow for me.
