Lean body with definite room to grow. Strike thrower that will force contact and strike batters out. Good athlete, and ran a 7.44
Delivery: Very deliberate motion, with high leg quick and quiet hands. Separation is quick and get his arm in a good position. With good balance and stays over the mound well, Xavier delivers from over the top. Even though being left handed he uses a quick slide step to keep runners on.
FB: Sneaky FB, with his long reach gets on hitters quickly, will challenge inside early in the count, velo was 80 mph
CH: Good depth, and comes out the hand like a FB. A swing and miss pitch, kept hitters off balance, and good differential fo speed at 68-69 mph
11/11/18
CBA Sacramento tryout - Lean bodied 8th grader, good actions on the field, sure looks the part of a developing left-handed pitcher to be aware of down the road, classic delivery, deep backside and comes out of it on time, good extension and good finish, polished delivery given his age, some curl of wrist on backside, fastball had good run when he got to best extension, good curveball with good spin and threw it with feel, 1/7 shape, classic curveball that is going to be quite good, big fade on changeup that happens late. Offensively pull oriented approach for the most part, pretty short to it, wristy handsy swing, sees it well, solid at the plate, good outfield workout, ball came out of hand well, athletic approach to ball, all of that is solid, it's the pitching that stood out.
