Physically full, medium frame proportionately built (7.41 60yd). Tall stance with high back elbow, keeping bat relaxed on back shoulder; sway in load as hands lift before slight foot lift. Barrel turn is longer working barrel upwards through the zone; when the hands stay connected to the body turns, the ball has jump off the barrel especially to the pull side (89 EV). Took defensive portion in OF with easy demeanor to the baseball; compact high release arm with limited carry/strength in throws (78 MPH OF) but able to keep the ball straight. Has previously worked out at Catcher position and raw OF skills suggest there is some growth available on the defensive side of the ball.
5/31/19
BAWS 2019 - Medium high waist with thicker build; body has some flexibility and agility with ability to shape more in future (7.61 60yd). Open stance with high hands showing a small knee tuck; hands have slight lift as he controls his forward movement. Barrel is level through the zone with some length in the turn; shows some lift through contact as he worked the middle and pull side gap with some backspin on his linedrives (87 EV). Flexibility and agility shows up in catching skills with good footwork; fair transfer and arm strength able to keep ball around the bag (71 MPH, 2.08-2.25 Pop). Defense was good in the games catching a runner at 3rd; utilized a low target and flashed fair glove skills.
11/11/18 - CBA Sacramento tryout - Stoutly built 5-foot-10 195-pounds with strength, built like a catcher in a good way, swing has bat speed and power potential though quite upper body dominant and rotational which saps his lower body strength, 80 mph exit off tee could certainly increase with more linear contact through the ball, a bit raw in mechanics behind plate but he plays with energy and tenacity, pop times were competitive in 2.10-2.20 range with a 70 mph throw, soft strong receiving hands.
