8/18/18 - SoCal Underclass Games - Six-foot, 160-pounds, large frame with long, lean, defined strength in the lower half and developing upper half strength. Yousif flashes a quick arm from a full path through to a ¾ slot. Lands inline with the occasional close-toed landing. Ball jumps out of his hand and is on hitters in a hurry. Arm shows easy effort and has some recoil after follow through. Looks like he's going to throw much harder in the future with continued physical development. Fastball shows late sinking action that he threw for strikes and induced weak contact with. The pitch seems to dive at the feet of righties when he commanded it or below the knees. Yousif's curveball showed more consistently that at the Underclass Trials in July. He commanded it better and shows late, darting action with an 11/5 shape from a near fastball arm velocity. Works down with the pitch. Yousif also continues to show feel for a fading changeup that he's able to throw to both sides of the plate.
7-17-17 - SoCal Underclass Trials II - 6-foot, 160-pounds, Yousif oozes projection given his athletic actions. He flashes a quick, whippy arm from a high ¾ slot. Lands inline consistently from a rhythmic delivery and while he snaps his head to the left he maintains his slot and balance. Flashed his potential when he used his lower half well which was inconsistent at times. Fastball has a hint of 2-seam sling and shows arm side run late as it enters the zone. Curveball was inconsistent but when on point shows good break with an 11/5 break and darting action. Changeup shows fading action away from left-handed hitters. Threw the pitch to both sides of the plate and shows command of it. At the plate Yousif shows some power potential from a tall, open stance that allows him to whip the barrel with his fast hands through the hitting zone. Stride can be longish causing his backside to collapse at times, but he manages to stay balanced through the swing. Shows a middle-oppo approach and gets extension with his bat path.
