2/15/20: After excelling in the closer’s role last summer for Yarmouth-Dennis in the Cape with five saves, a 1.55 ERA, 0.58 WHIP and 27 strikeouts in 17.1 innings pitched, Dollard has jumped to the front of the Mustang’s rotation this spring. As a reliever, he’s capable of reaching the mid-90s with his heater, but during his opening day start this spring, Dollard sat 87-90 with his sinker and mixed in a 76-80 mph slider. Moving forward, he will need to continue to develop his low-80s changeup as a weapon against left-handed hitters. On the day he tossed seven innings, allowed two hits, no runs and punched out ten, while throwing a total of just 93 pitches. He projects as a Day Two target this June.
11/9/19: Dollard filled the closer role in the Cape having a big summer and showing swing and miss stuff. That same swing and miss stuff flashed during the two inning stint where the long, high waisted and athletically built frame battled through control issues. The full over-the-head delivery keeps a tight, athletic front knee lift allowing Dollard to gather over the rubber before having some drive from the back leg down the hill; showed fluidity in the hips controlling the front leg to a slightly opened landing. The arm gets out towards second showing a full swing through 3/4 release; added deception by having a high glove side before getting extension over the firm front leg. FB 89-92 T95 hitting the high velocity with the first pitch before working 90-91 through the outing; FB has some run to the arm-side flashing life through the zone and getting swings from it. CHG 78-82 with heavy arm-side run; can get it under the hands of RHHs. SLD 78-83 lateral actions with flashes of hard tilted break; pitch was inconsistent in the outing flashing average at its best. FB control was spotty during the outing leading to 4 R on 6 Hits and 2 BBs with 2Ks. Even with a poor outcome, you could see Dollard working on the hill and should be able to make adjustments for the Spring.
8/14/19: Excelled in the closer’s role for Y-D, racking-up five saves while posting a 1.55 ERA/0.58 WHIP in his 17.1 innings. Capable of reaching the mid-90s with his heater, Dollard overpowered Cape hitters to the tune of a 14.0 SO/9 rate (27 strikeouts over his 11 appearances) and projects as a mid-Day Two target.
