PBR CA STATE GAMES - Lean, projectable build at 5-8, 160 showing good actions at 1st base and bat that has a chance for continual progress. Hands stay tight through upward swing with quick bat showing middle of the field approach (2B to CF); runs well and aggressive out of the box looking to take bases (4.69-4.72, 5.26T). Showed fair range at 1st with glove that can make some plays. 2 clean innings working with hands wide from the chest through slight coil using shallow swing to get to H-3/4 release. FB 77-79 used on both sides of the plate. CB 74-76 with 2/7-to-2/6 shape being able to bend LHHs and used through the zone against RHH. Pitch was most consistent when he kept similar arm speed as FB.
6/01/19
Uncommitted. Five-foot-8, 160-pounds. Medium frame with strength in lower half and through shoulders. Aggressive swings at the plate from an upright setup that uses a leg lift trigger to initiate swing. Hands are quick-to-fast while getting the barrel on plane through the zone. Gets lift on the ball when his timing is right. Has some explosiveness in the barrel presently. Defensively Mifflin shows fundamentally sound footwork around the bag at first. Funnels the ball out front with soft hands. Exchanges were clean while throws were accurate to each bag. On the mound Mifflin has an athletic, repeatable delivery. Shows the ability to throw three pitches for strikes with a fastball, curveball, changeup sequence. Arm is compact and comes from a consistent 3/4 slot from a drop-and-drive delivery. Fastball shows some run to the arm side while the curveball flashes sharp, biting action with fair depth and shows feel for the changeup that when thrown with conviction flashes tight spin with late sinking action.
9/23/18
Rising Stars Showcase - Five-foot-8, 155-pounds, medium frame with proportional wiry strength throughout the body. Has present strength in the thighs down through the calves. Squared shoulders with strength down through the wrists. At the plate he shows fast hands that result in consistent barrel contact. Present all fields hitter with a gap-to-gap approach. Keeps weight back before using a high leg kick to trigger the swing. Drops hands into launch position before driving back hip into the ball. At first base he shows smooth footwork and aggressively attacks balls. Understands angles and hops with plenty of arm strength and accuracy for the position. Hands are fast and exchanges are clean. On the mound Mifflin shows a quick-to-fast, compact arm action. Hides the ball well with a high leg kick and noticeable back turn. Uses the lower half to drive down the mound and gain ground. Finish is abbreviated causing him to finish tall. Fastball shows some run to the arm side with hard action. Curveball shows late with 10/4 break from the same arm speed as fastball. Shows command of both pitches. Flashed a knuckleball that danced it's way to the batters box and projects as a very good change-of-pace pitch.
