vs Serra - Uncommitted. A name to watch over the summer/fall, Murphy has a chance to be a special player in the middle of the diamond with above average athletic skills already. Long, medium frame with lean, twitchy build showing a tight waist, length in the legs and squared up shoulders; highly projectable body. At the plate he’s wide and balanced with even hands holding a high back elbow as he rotates the bat on the back shoulder. Simple foot lift as his hands work down and into his back shoulder in a quick loop. The bat has an oppo approach keeping his hands inside the ball with a direct, flatter swing. In his 2nd AB he hit a hard liner to LCF showing some more loft in the swing flashing some extra-base hit in the swing. Very fluid and quick out of the box using that athleticism to glide down the line and put pressure on opposing defenses (4.19-4.23 H-1st). In CF he showed very quick reactions with the ability to go get the ball; turned a ball that was a sure 2B in the gap into a long 1B getting to it quickly and putting a strike to 2nd base. The arm is compact with the ability to put throws through cut men with a low trajectory fitting in CF or LF. He was a name that was spoken of very highly by the coaching staff before the game, mentioning he’s getting D1 Scholarship offers for Football already; the type of athlete that easily passes the eye test and oozes with potential.
