PBR N CA Uncommitted Senior Games - Strong stout 5-foot-11 195-pounds, lower body has strength to provide stability to throwback type delivery with high knee lift and long deep backside arm action. Long stride with some swinging gate type lower body action, lands in-line though a bit on heel which limits full extension and creates some recoiling negative energy. The arm is strong, works from overhand slot. Touching 88 mph was top velocity we’ve seen from Dunkle and it’s a jump that we’ve been waiting to see. Fastball control will need to improve to gain trust of college coaches. Has baseball IQ on mound and big 12/5 type curveball can play well both down and up in the zone. The raw stuff and ability to make it consistent will improve with some cleaner more repeatable mechanics.

PBR N CA Preseason All-State - Body description from previous viewings holds up, 5-foot-11 180-pounds, wide shoulders, strong from upper legs through hips, high knee lift, unique delivery that creates deception, deep long arm action on backside where hand is visible and then brings hand up behind head and it disappears, long stride with some slight-cross body, aggressive with arm working to get full front side extension, does fall off a bit and should he eliminate that there is a chance to take his stuff up a notch, fastball (T84) with good angle at times through zone, throws it aggressively, curveball (66-68 mph) with big 12/5 shape, good spin and bite at times, certainly makings of an above average pitch, change-up (72-73 mph) with good variance off fastball and diving action in the zone, hard to discern change-up from fastball out of the hand. Quality pitcher with full repertoire and a unique delivery that creates a different look. Looks poised for a big junior year as a 2020 to keep an eye on.

PBR N CA Underclass Games - 5-foot-11, 180-pounds, lean strong athletic body type, energetic player, competed as two-way player at showcase and looked more likely to develop as a pitcher beyond the high school level. Overhand slot, easy arm that works well, deep stab on the backside, high knee lift and has a creative delivery that stands out, tends to open early with front hip and stride a little bit open in a manner sort of like MLB reliever Greg Holland but not quite as pronounced. Good mound presence and aggressive competitor. Three quality pitches, change-up has a chance to be above average pitch as he threw it with good feel with arm action consistent to fastball arm action. Breaking ball was slider-like 11/4 break with spin that indicates it has makings of a quality pitch. Fastball best when delivery was more online and he could get good angle. One to follow on the mound. Offensively possesses a flat swing, pull-oriented, somewhat choppy and could stay in the zone longer, aggressive swing. Defensively moves to the ball well, plays low, gets rid of it well.

BAWS 2018 - Strong compact build on 5-foot-11 180-pound frame, good lower half. Simple, yet deliberately slow delivery using very high knee and front shoulder before rocking to back leg and sitting into hips as he went down mound. Delivery allows arm to be longer out of glove and adds deception before 3/4 release. Max effort currently in delivery with some spin off and body recoil at finish. Fastball 82-84 mph, straight to arm side with good angle. Curveball 66-68 mph with 12/6 shape with small overhand drop. Inconsistent with pitch and had times where he would get around the ball losing the zone. slider 71-75 mph with cut off his fastball plane late at the plate. During outing poor control, regularly being behind hitters and having to work to get out of trouble. Was able to pitch around control and limit damage. Some of that was as many young pitchers do, over-trying in a showcase scenario. Had a strong 2018 season on a varsity team that had a successful season.
