Fresno Easter Classic - UNLV Commit. Large athletic build. Worked 85-86 T88 MPH. Threw tumbling CB with continuing depth at 66-69 MPH. CHG 75-76 MPH fair life that was useable. Pitched off his FB using control of both offspeed working efficiently with the ability to go to all quadrants of the zone with multiple movements on pitches.
3/26/18
Uncommitted. 6-foot-3, 165-pound long limbed, physical frame. Very young for his class. Beal is an interesting prospect in his class because of his frame and his pitchability and competitiveness on the bump. His fastball touched 83 mph while working 80-82 mph with late life that at time sinks and other times rides when entering the hitting zone. Beal's curveball is a true two-plane pitch that is tight with good depth at 70-71 mph that he is able to tilt and get it under bats. Beal shows a clean and repeatable delivery with a strong backside and stays online towards the plate consistently. The direction of his front side is fairly consistent. His coach told us that he is just now beginning to show glimpses of what can be in the future. A very competitive pitcher as his defense let him down a bit and he continued to battle and give his team a chance in the game showing some maturity. Maintained his velocity into his last inning pitched. In fact touched 83 mph three times in his last inning pitched indicating that he got stronger as the game wore on.
