3/3/19: Six-foot-1, 180 with an athletic frame and some current strength to his build. Sogard lacks an elite tool but does a little bit of everything well. Defensively he has solid actions and plays with a steady, composed tempo. Might be able to stick at SS in the long-term. Switch-hitter with a mature approach at the plate. Well below average power in game but has a proven track record of getting on base at a high clip. Above average runner underway. Should be a consistent performer throughout 2019. (Jurik)
2/26/19: Strong, athletic-bodied middle infielder. Operates from a open set-up at the plate with a minimal load and small leg kick. Compact line drive swing. Balanced at the plate, keeps barrel through the zone, makes consistent contact and uses the whole field. Line-drive hitting approach, with gap-to gap ability. Plus runner with quick feet and a medium stride. Uses his speed to his advantage on the basepaths. Gets a good first step out of the box, aggressive always looking for the extra base. Strong fielder, good reads off the bat, above-average range. Enough athleticism to play both middle infield spots, but likely profiles more as second basemen at the next level. (Morgan)
7/20/18: 6-foot-1, 175 pounds. Average build. Good all-around player. In the box he sets up with a spread and crouched stance. Sees the ball really well, does not swing at balls out of the zone. Selective, but aggressive. Has a plan at the plate. Been incredibly successful at the plate this year, batting .318 over nearly 150 at-bats. Saw him mostly from the right side, with one at-bat from the left. Swing looks identical both ways but looks more comfortable as a righty. On top of that, he is another plus defender. He was very comfortable out there. Made several athletic plays while making many of them look easy. Adaptable, good on the run. Plus arm, plus glove. Best position player on the field. Went 3-for-4 with a walk and a strikeout and swiped a bag. (Stone)
