3/18/18 – Abilene Christian University commit. 5-foot-7, 175-pound, small, stocky frame with some strength projection remaining in upper body. Lopez is a no fear, aggressive FB hitter that has the ability to identify and square up secondary pitches. Has a pronounced leg kick trigger that puts him on time, and in good hitting position. Lopez creates excellent leverage with a short powerful stroke and natural lift. He exhibits excellent receiving skills, soft hands, and ability to get low and manipulate the strike zone. Lopez displays sound defensive athletic actions behind the plate with the proficiency to move laterally and a desire to block balls. Throws to 2B hover around 2.0 – 2.15. Most of the time Lopez is on target with some carry and arm side tail but shows some inconsistencies in his throwing mechanics.
