Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Very lean build with lanky frame; wide, squared shoulders show space for the frame to keep adding strength being young physically (7.75 60yd). Balanced stance with very high hands using soft sway to get momentum as hands worked back; barrel is compact tending to hit off the front foot sapping some strength (80 EV). Direct hands worked opposite field with liners; showed ability to get barrel through more consistently in the game with hits to CF and RF showing his baseball knowledge and advancing to 2nd on the throw through. Quick actions in the OF with a quick release; high glove side and long arm keeping throws straight to the bags (77 OF MPH).
5/31/19
BAWS 2019 - Medium frame, long and lean with proportional length throughout (7.59 60yd). Slight bend in knees with high hands and high back elbow; hands work directly back with front foot getting down early. Hands stay tight to body with compact swing and direct bat path; times where he works inside out to opposite side of the field. Soft liners through the middle and opposite side of the field (80 EV). Good footspeed in OF able to come get the ball and understanding of how to work through the baseball. Arm has some whip with a high front side allowing for length out of the glove; stayed mainly arm side (76 MPH).
1/13/19 - Central Valley Preseason ID - Narrow and lean 5-foot-10 140-pounds on medium frame with length in legs; ability to add strength to frame as he matures. Long legs move quickly with head down, aggressive running style (7.53 60-yd dash). Starts tall and balanced with high hands and a high back elbow showing small bend in knees; quick foot lift while leans into back hip as hands pull back into shoulder before attacking on an uphill path. Bat showed pull side swing with flashes of pop when getting on plane and being behind the ball (79 exit velo). Wide mid-3/4 arm shows some whippy action when working in time with lower half; quickness in attacking the ball and using lower half to get most out of throws (74 mph). On mound 3/4 slot, sling arm action, arm strength still developing on mound, lower body and upper body can sync up a bit better, can stay closed a bit longer to create more energy, fastball with some run (71-74 mph), best pitch is fading (67-70 mph) change-up, curveball (61-63 mph) came out a little early which limits the bite. All can be enhanced as his lower body develops and can get to better extension.
8/25/18 - 5-foot-8, 130-pounds, lean athletic build, room to continue to fill out, fairly wide shoulders given his current size. Tall set-up in the box, good balance, short simple stride, works hands inside the ball well, keeps head quiet, pulled numerous line drives in BP round. Made good barrel contact in both game at-bats, both times hitting the opposite way. Chance to be a line to line spray contact type hitter. Defensively made athletic approach to the ball in the outfield, long arm action, loose good arm that has more in there as he gains physical strength. Throws had good carry on them due to his good mechanics and long out-front release point. Gets out over his front side well and frankly, it would be interesting to see his throwing mechanics taken to the mound.
6/1/18-6/3/18 - BAWS 2018 - Smaller compact body type on 5-foot-8 130-pound frame. Balanced stance and pulls hands back into load aggressively; looks to lift ball trying to create leverage and can cause bat to be occasional long into zone. Hit tools are there to be utilized as he refines his approach and understands the hitter he is capable of being. Fair arm strength but with quick transitions at plate (2.25-2.28 Pop). Multi-positional player with capability of being utilized in the outfield.
