CCS Playoffs D1 - Uncommitted. I’d mentioned Farfan as being a guy to watch this Playoffs as he’d impressed me in multiple viewings then did it again during this game. The large, physical frame is wide in the shoulders with the frame moving athletically and quickly from limited effort exerted (4.75T, 4.77T). He went 2-4 with a 1B to CF and long HR to RCF. The bat creates easy loft, regularly on plane driving through extension. The strength showed up in his HR as the ball was on a line and continued to carry deep to RCF. Impressed in his 4th AB when he was fed nothing but curveball. He fouled off the best one to hit before working the count to 2-2. He stayed on the final CB driving it to RF. Has shown arm strength at 3rd in previous viewings and he hops around the position ready to charge in and shut down small ball. He had one ball bounce off his glove on a dive down the line showing the range he can cover and just missed getting the ball out of his glove. A 2020 that has really made a name for himself this season with his steady play and the tools that have room for continued growth.

Vs MVC - Uncommitted. Third time I’ve seen him in Spring and he seems to always make a play or have an At-Bat that makes me take notes on. This game was no exception when he read bunt, came charging hard and threw across his body on the move to get the lead runner at 2nd base; instinctive and athletic baseball play that effectively ended the momentum of the inning. Large, full frame that continues to show athletic ability with quick first step reactions; space to firm up and continue adding strength provides some available projection as well. Defensively shows plenty of arm strength for the position with the ability to make all the plays there; found out he’d been up to 86 on the mound as well, but not pitching right now as he works his way back to full strength after injury from early last season. Patient approach at the plate keeping bat at his back shoulder with high back elbow and balanced stance. Stays balanced through load with a still head regularly swinging from strong launch position. Allows the bat and hands to stay behind the baseball and rotate on upward path with full extension on finish high at shoulders. Barreled another ball into LF with two walks and his patience continues to add to the hit profile. Been on Varsity since his Freshman year and young for the class. One of my highest rising players in the 2020 class right now

3/13/19 at St Francis SCP - Farfan is a large, wide and thick frame that is more athletic than initial look; it’s the type of frame that you can project a lot of strength on with a good strength program. At the plate, he’s balanced with a high back elbow and hands at the back shoulder bouncing the bat. It’s a quiet load with a quick and controlled foot lift as the hands work directly back getting on plane and driving through the ball with a slightly upwards path. The bat is quick and the body works in sequence catching balls out in front of the plate and staying behind the baseball well. The swing looks effortless yet does a lot of damage hitting a ground-rule double and HR into the wind in LCF against St. Francis SCP while driving another deep 2B last week. He runs well for his large frame with the ability to turn it up when needed (4.36 H-1st on a groundout to SS). At 3B, Farfan shows lateral agility with the ability to show off a very good glove and plenty of arm to stick at the position with a compact arm that has the ability to let it go when he needs it. In a game last week, he made a diving play on the line getting to one knee and throwing a strike across the diamond. It was a big-time play and he made it seem like it’s something he does on a regular basis. I’d like to see him be a little more aggressive going to his glove-side on those in-between balls, but have been very impressed with his overall game. An uncommitted name to watch in the 2020 class.
