Medium, strong lean frame with good proportions (6.94 60yd) and easy athletic ability. Balanced, deep hands having flick back early in load; drifts forward from quick load having harder front foot landing. Barrel is flat through the zone in balanced and aggressive swing lifting body through contact; worked the gaps with lifted linedrives (90 EV). Good first step reactions at SS with flowing soft glove actions at position showing good range and lateral agility; arm is loose and long getting to high release point in time with lower half (84 INF). Continues to show tools are there and multi-positional experience that can carry to the next level.
5/31/19
BAWS 2019 - Long, medium frame with high waist and square shoulders; firm build with some muscular strength and athletic actions (7.05 60yd). Balanced stance with slight bend in knees; very simple stance with quick rock starting forward momentum. Swing is compact and direct having lift through contact with full body driving through the ball. Showed ability to backspin the ball into the gaps having linedrives to the middle and pullside (86 EV). Defense was solid during the workouts and in game as well. Quick, active feet with good first step; allows him to react well to ball and make plays moving through it. Glove stays low and open with slight push through contact; good feed to loose arm (85 MPH). Defense was good in the games as he took charge positioning himself and others for best success.
3/2/19 - vs De La Salle - 6-foot-0, 180-pounds, lean strong build, has some tools at the plate but is also in that raw category. He's highly aggressive and certainly brings intent into the box, but the swing and approach are both too big to serve him well vs any sort of above average high school pitching. He does get too big with the swing and there is quite a bit of a fly ball approach but he does get his hands inside the ball, in some swings it was almost forced. He was the DH in this game so nothing to report on the defensive side. Will have to recognize pitches earlier, particularly the breaking ball. Again, simply a name to file away and see how he develops.
2/20/19 vs Los Gatos - Designated Hitter for the Lancers after taking pregame at SS. Offensively he stands wide with a slight knee bend keeping a high back elbow with strong posture. His swing is compact and utilizes an oppo line-drive approach. During the game he hit two balls hard driving a ball into short right-center for a knock (4.72T) and walked twice. He showed a very good pre-pitch routine finding focus and having a patient approach staying within himself and looking for his pitch. In pregame he showed good footwork with flashes of a soft glove and the ability to open his hips for throws to start the double play. His arm has some effort from a H-3/4 slot and looks like he could play as a utility type of guy that can fit in at SS, 2B, LF, 3B
