Short is a lean and athletically built 6-foot- 175-pound left-hander with an athletic delivery, fluid actions on the mound, loose arm, and good lower body finish. He is deep on the backside and comes out of it on time, creating good leverage and able to get to release point for three pitches. He pitches from a 3/4 slot and finishes out front well. Aggressively pounds the fastball inside to right-handed hitters and can also run it away on the arm side. Flashes a slider/cutter that also has a chance to be effective, though maintaining release point of two breaking balls is a challenge for a high school pitcher. Curveball is a big 1/7 breaker with good tumble action that keeps on coming deep into the zone. The steepness of the pitch makes it effective vs both right and left-handed batters. He's got feel of the change up as well. Short fields his position well and shows his overall athleticism when he's at the plate and playing the outfield, where he is a capable high school player.

At BAWS 2018 Short was 81-83, with 66-69 curveball, slider/cutter 75-76, and a 74-75 mph change-up. Loose arm, athletic delivery, slight cross fire that works for some deception but doesn't hinder his feel for getting to release point. Pitches aggressively and hunts outs with all pitches. Particularly aggressive with the fastball inside to right-handed hitters. Athletic kid, could really come on in the spring of 2018.
