Riverside Co. Preseason All-State: We are not unfamiliar with Marrujo who attended the 2019 California State Games, but his recent physical conditioning made us take a second look. The junior OF/RHP has added strength to his 6-foot, 175-pound frame that would indicate there’s even more gains coming in the future while the present gains have had a positive impact in his game. On the mound he appeared looser and more rhythmic with more consistent fastball velocity (83-84 mph) than in the past. The arm is clean and loose from his full circle through to the high 3/4 release point. While the strength gains are great, it’s the increased command and confidence he showed on the mound that really stood out. Curveball was as good as we’ve seen in both shape and command. Same goes for the changeup. Athleticism plays up in the outfield where his footwork and body control are above average. Arm is strong (87 mph) with renewed accuracy. Continues to show he can hit now with added juice to his line drives.
8/17/19
PBR CA STATE GAMES - Long, large frame with high waist and lean projectable build. On the hill went three innings working around 4 hits, a walk and HBP. 1st inning was quick and easy before finding more of the middle of the plate during 2nd/3rd innings. Hands start at waist lifting high up to the head with high athletic front knee; strides to open with his front leg absorbing his bracing down the hill. Long arm action to high over the top release point. FB 76-80 pitched to upper half of the zone moving pitch in and out. CB 62-64 12/6 with high over the top angle from release create late drop at the plate; feel for the pitch throwing it in all counts. CHG 72-75 showing sink at the bottom of the zone; sells the pitch well with strong arm speed. Pitched with plus tempo working backwards with offspeed early. Frame will continue to make strides.

SoCal Underclass Trials II - Marrujo immediately caught our scouts attention because of his size at 6-foot 160-pounds and his youthful appearance. Has plenty of room to add mass/strength to his frame. Just turned 15 years old at the end May. After running a 7.33 60, Marrujo stepped into the hitting wheel where he shows a tall and open stance with a balanced swing throughout. Has quick hands which he rocks prior to his short strike to the ball that results in solid contact with an opposite field approach. Shows a slight uppercut path to the ball. Defensively Marrujo shows excellent footwork and body control in the outfield where his arm is strong and accurate with some present carry on his throws. Very athletic player.
