vs Heritage HS in NCS D1 playoff - Cal commit; one of top draft prospects in 2019 California high school class, this was not his day however, feet were a bit unsettled at the plate and balance was out of whack, got aggressive early in counts with some big swings and fouled off (pull side) some good pitches to hit, got beat twice looking (once SL, once FB down and in), chased fastball up more than once, bat speed is a plus though first move with barrel was creating length and getting around the ball, defensively displayed a plus arm, smooth feet, did make big error charging a ball (allowed it to go under his glove) with goal to start a double play when the better play was to make the out at 1st, bounced back to make routine plays the remainder of the game. Field, arm, run tools are more advanced than the hit tool and the power is a projectable tool down the road as hit tool improves.
USA PDP Workout - Cal commit, electric athlete with sinwey proportions and hard to take eyes off him. Short swing, slashing flat stroke, sprayed line drives to opposite field, good hips, lets the ball away travel well and willing to hit that way, does wrap the barrel around head at the start of swing which does create an approach that will work best to opposite field, could create some issues/length on inner half but he has the hand speed to cover that spot as he evolves. Soft hands on defense, easy arm projects to be above average, plus first step quickness, athlete but able to play WITH his athleticism and good skill, range is a plus. Recall one live at-bat being a 6-4 fielder's choice (4.26) then stole a base and took 3rd on poor throw, gets to top speed easily.
2/27/18 - One of top 2019 shortstops in Northern California, Paris is a 5-foot-11 160-pound athlete with the type of body that translates to any sport, light foot in the infield, good agility left and right, throws easy and confidently, works calmly around the bag catching and making tags, let's athleticism work for him but is more refined than just an athletic shortstop. Slashing swing produces middle of the field line drive contact, simple move to the ball with quick hands and loose wrists. Quick first step as basestealer and aggressive on the bases both stealing and taking extra bases. Ran 4.38 on a turn toward 2nd. Will be on the draft radar for 2019. Has offers from all over the West Coast.
