Cape Cod: Served both in a starter’s and a reliever’s role for Orleans, finishing the season with a 3.57 ERA and 1.32 WHIP while striking out 21 in 22.2 innings (though his ERA jumped a run and WHIP 25 bps due to a rocky final outing at Chatham that saw the Anglers land three earned runs on six hits and one walk in just an inning and a third). At his best, Carr operates in the low-90s with his fastball and backs it with two solid breaking balls – a 74-78 mph curve (2450 rpm) and low-80s slider (2580 rpm), each with distinct shape out of a similar release. Carr also folds in an 83-85 changeup that shows promise but is too firm at present. Carr will be draft-eligible as a true sophomore next spring and has the depth and quality of arsenal to grow into a valuable starter with continued growth
1/19/21
6-foot, 165 pounds, long and lanky, athletic and toolsy, plenty of room for growth and development. Calm approach, keeps body still and loose, hunts fastballs. Barrel comes through the zone nicely allowing for all fields hitting capabilities. Contact hitter with some raw power, possesses the tools to develop more power. Runs at an average clip and aggressively on the base paths. Roams the outfield well, slight hesitation with the first step, plus high school arm. Shows tools needed to succeed at the next level and is a name to watch this season.
