3/18/18 – Luckham, a 2-way player, is long and lean with significant physical projection remaining. He possesses a trait of all successful pitchers, the ability to get outs. He displays a unique wind-up with a toe-tap pause in the middle that can throw off rhythm and timing of a hitter. Luckham's stuff is pretty good too; featuring a 3-pitch mix coming from a ¾ slot, with a heavy moving fastball at 89-92, touching 93 mph, a commanding CB at 75-78 mph with excellent tilt and bite, and a fading, developing CH sitting at 79-82 mph. What stands out the most on the mound is his bulldog-like mentality. Luckham pitches with and attitude and is an elite competitor that has an inner fire to win when the ball is in his hand. Luckham can swing the bat as well, on this day as he hit a HR off Chandler Champlain, RHP, Santa Margarita HS, Ca., a top-pitching prospect in SoCal.
2/24/18 - Luckham, a 6-foot-2, 190-pound Cal State Fullerton signee pitched very well against a loaded El Toro offense. His only mistake coming against Erik Tolman who turned on a 91 mph fastball on the inner half and drove it out of the park. Luckham threw exclusively fastball the first time-and-a-half through the order sitting 90-92 mph while touching 93 mph. The fastball showed a lot of movement as it entered the hitting zone. When he unleashed his curveball it was tight with downward plane and virtually unhittable at 75-78 mph and showed varying breaks - a spike 12/6 action, and a more slurvy look.
