Bay Area World Series 2022 - Uncommitted; Came to BAWS on the heels of his high school league MVP honors in 2022; Lean strength on wiry body type, FB up to 86.6 mph, max spin of 2378 gives a glimpse of what can be down the road as he gains more physicality, 4.9 release height allows the FB to play nicely up in the zone and stay on plane, fairly tight little slider 71-73 mph, 2223 max spin, release height same as FB which is a positive thing to create deception and tunneling, used one CHG, it's the splitter that he trusts most after the FB, 74-75 mph splitter with bottom-out action that can get swings and misses, has feel for the pitch. One of the 2023s who with just a little more stuff and continual strong performance has a chance to earn himself a 4-year opportunity sooner or later, perhaps in the late signing period of spring 2023, maybe sooner depending how the remainder of his summer and fall go.
7/11/21
Delivery: With a slight turn of shoulders and hips to initiate wind up, quick drop step and leg kick get Kurts delivery going. Very quiet hands stay in place through wind up until separation. Short arm, over the top delivery makes for a quick arm. Deceptive in all 3 pitches. Works well down in the zone, lots of ground balls. Young pitcher with lots of room to grow.
FB: With a quick short arm action, and good extension Kurt fastball will sneak up on hitters,
CB: With a clean 12/6 break, Kurt used this pitch in many ways...weak contact and strikeout.
CH/SPL: With the ball dancing around, the split was good and complimented the change up.
