BAWS 2019 - Strong, physical build on medium frame; athletic and high waisted (7.17 60yd). Opened, wide stance with high hands and flared elbows. Swing showed balance with weight in back hip through contact; showed some quickness driving the ball to the pull gap flashing carry from direct hands and level bat (83 MPH). Picked up a hit and reached on an error during games; got a 1st pitch FB and drove it into LCF. In OF showed strong athletic actions attacking the baseball and going to get it during games; played strong RF during games. Arm is compact producing carry and keeping throws online (87 MPH). Frame has small projection with the defense showing solid; chance for bat to project line drive type to middle of field that hits atop a lineup

vs Monte Vista in NCS D1 playoff - Uncommitted; played RF and hit in 7-spot, not a great day at plate but wasn't overmatched by a top senior RHP (Josh White), attempted to execute safety squeeze and got bunt down but not in the right direction, aggressive to first pitch in other at-bats, front hip leaks and takes him off the ball a bit causing slicing barrel action through the zone, bat speed and short swing are there and will be beneficial when lower half direction improves, great play in RF at the wall on a ball that twisted him around a bit but he recovered and caught it over his right shoulder at the fence, athleticism to make plays and gutsy player.

vs Jesuit - Uncommitted; Sinewy strong 5-foot-10, 170-pounds, continues to draw my eye. He's a left-handed hitter with plenty of bat speed, swing trigger, and attitude in the box. He's an intense competitor and I sense that there isn't a pitcher he faces where he will feel like he is over-matched. He comes from an athletic family, as his father was a professional football player and there is definitely some of that football toughness in how he competes. He's pretty short to the ball and as he gains better control of his lower hand and smooths out the stroke, he's going to be a handful for pitchers. He can and does use the middle and opposite fields, some of which is his slicing stroke and some because he can develop better looseness and relaxation. His line drive out to centerfield was a good illustration of his bat speed being a plus and allowing him to catch up to a pitch that he could have been late to. Keep an eye on this hitter, he's got something to offer.

at St. Francis - Uncommitted; Sinewy strong 5-foot-10, 170-pounds, he's a bundle of energy and aggressiveness and there is an intensity in this young man that you can feel when he's at the plate. He was the last out of the game and it took some quality pitches to get him. Truthfully, I felt that leaving the starting pitcher (going for a CG) in to face him was going to not end well for St. Francis because Coloma was CLOSE to doing damage in each at-bat. He's got plus bat-speed and a flat stroke. He can lash the ball to the opposite field and it would appear as though he will have power when he learns to slow down just a bit and control the at-bat better, create more rhythm and better time with some pre-pitch relaxation in his set-up. It's unfortunate that I didn't get video of that single that he smoked up the middle off the pitcher's leg, as it was ripped. He's raw and unpolished but possesses potentially impact hitting talent. Coloma also plays 2nd base.
