vs Reedley at Fresno Easter Classic - Uncommitted; Long rangy body, athletic actions, playing 1st base (normally team's SS) due to some arm issues this season, projectable bat that plays now as a quality hitter and in the future with playable power. Starts open, handsy swing. Easy swing, lets it travel but can hunt middle in and do damage now. Stayed back on curveball and drove to centerfield. Good baserunner takes excellent angles with ability to score from 2nd and got 1st to 3rd despite not having plus speed.
3/26/18 - 3/27/18 - Uncommitted. 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame, long, lean, twitchy strong frame that projects future growth with continued maturation. Son of former Major Leaguer Bill Simas. The first thing that stands out when watching Simas is his athleticism and the way me moves his body while under control. Simas has the tools to stay at shortstop in the future with a strong, accurate arm that produces throws with carry across the diamond along with the type of range that allows him to make plays deep in the hole or deep behind the second base bag. Offensively Simas a lot of tools to build on. Using an upright stance, he uses a slight left leg lift trigger to rock his weight back before launching his hands through the ball. He shows feel for the barrel and has the hand speed and ability to get the barrel on balls that are in. Has a knack for hitting and very good feel for the hitting zone. One pitch down in the zone he managed to get the barrel on it and shoot it into right center field for a standup double. Hustles out of the box and is always looking to take an extra bag when possible. A quiet leader on his team, he leads by example - hustling in-and-out of the dugout.
