2021 Westview (San Diego, CA) SS/2B Kai Williams is listed at 5-foot-10 160 pounds and currently uncommitted. Throws right and hits right. Started at shortstop and hit second. Collected two hits in the game. Soccer player frame, twitchy, athletic. Speed reported with a 6.8 60-yard dash. Fielding fundamentals were solid overall, showing athletic bend at the waist with low clearance. Transfer was consistent with some clean quickness and throw anticipation. Showed range and athleticism diving for a ball overhead in shallow left-field however lack of reach may have caused the jump dive. Made the necessary throws from shortstop and shows a quick release but currently lacks the desired arm strength for the next level. Sets up with a slightly open stance before a pre-pitch load and leg kick creating lower half drive. Hands were quick through the zone showing some bat speed and a short finish. Raced his teammate and second baseman Patrick McLellan on and off the field each inning. Sophomore name to watch in college recruiting thanks to a quick bat and infield quickness.
