7/20/21

Worked three innings (59-pitches), allowing one run on three hits with five punchouts. He’s strong-bodied at 6-foot-1, 205-pounds, pumped 91-93 fastballs and finished with a mule kick finish to his delivery. His heater showed more angle than wiggle. He missed bats with a top-to-bottom 80-81 spiked breaking ball, including three punchouts in his first inning or work. White also controlled the running game with a 1.20 time to the plate from the stretch and looked like the type who minimizes his mistakes and maximizes his stuff.

5/17/19

at De La Salle in NCS D1 playoff - Cal commit; Went 6 IP in CG in 2-1 loss at De La Salle, allowed 3 H, 4 BB, 2 K, pitched in and out of trouble, dinged for two runs on one swing of bat at a hanging slider, composed and competitive with good poise, fastball 87-90 mph and held 88-89 all the way through, struggled to find feel of breaking ball early but dialed it in as game went along, mostly slider type break but occasional tilt of power curveball 74-79 mph, mixed in a couple of change-ups 76-78 mph, last outing of his high school career was a good glimpse of his bulldog-ness that he will bring to Cal.

3/19/19

at De La Salle - Cal signee & #50 in CA 2019 class, was really good for his team and showed why he is a top pitcher in Northern California.  He is a bulldog on the mound and you can tell really loves to compete. He showed he could throw 3 pitches for strikes and throw them whenever and wherever he wanted.  His fastball was 86-89 T91 with life. He had some sink on the fastball and occasional ASR. He was really good at using his off speed to set up the fastball up to chase.  His slider was 75-77 which had short and tight two plane break. It would flatten out a bit when he would throw it in the 76-77 range. Also showed a curveball which was 71-74 which he like to throw early in counts.  The curveball was more of a slurve to me and he had great arm speed when throwing it. His change up was 77-78 and it was the one pitch he struggled to throw for strikes on the day, but he did not shy away from it and continued to throw it and used it late in the game.  He pitched backwards a lot and showed great feel on the mound for what he was trying to do.

2/22/19

at Serra HS - Cal signee; 6-foot-0 right-handed pitcher, which in scouting parlance is not generally a flattering term, but given his bulldog nature and feel of three pitches, he will stay on the radar. White's stuff was mostly 87-89 in his 3 innings, with an occasional dip down to 86 mph. He locates the fastball well, showing the ability to hit corners and to go out of the zone when he needed to. His breaking ball (76-80 mph) is a slider with late tilt and is another pitch he can go to at will. He also has feel of a 79 mph change-up.

7/13/18

USA PDP - Cal commit. Compact body type that doesn't particularly stand out as anything more than average. Same CAN'T be said about his ability to pitch and for his command of his quality repertoire. Perhaps the most polished big time 2019 right-hander in Northern California. Overhand slot, direction to plate is consistent with ever so slight closed stride, aggressive approach and demeanor but also in full control of himself, pitches with plus tempo, mound presence is clearly felt, painted with fastball in 88-90 mph range, not much movement but there is life through the zone, big 12/5 curveball with plus spin and hard bite, depth on change-up is outstanding, throws with feel, also showed ability to add and subtract, mixing in slower BP type fastballs or harder change-ups. He's good. Three batter outing (F8 FB up, 5-3 on change-up, 3U on FB away), faced Soderstrom, Susac, and Kenny Williams.
