Defensive standout Jordan Sprinkle (UC Santa Barbara) lasted eight games with Orleans before joining up with the Collegiate National Team at the end of June. He’s a plus runner with good range at the six spot but fringy arm strength somewhat ameliorated by a quick release. Capable of working deep into counts, his game power is limited at present and the on-base profile is heavily driven by average, limiting his utility as a top-of-the-order stick at the next level.

A defense-first infielder, the righthanded hitter was also a tough out at the plate. He maximizes his at-bats by controlling the strike zone and using all fields. Sprinkle hit .300 (9-for-30) this summer with 4 XBH. He’s also a plus runner who runs easy. Defensively, he showed fringe arm strength, but covers some ground with good agility, lateral quickness and well above average body control.

Santa Barbara recruit, looked the part at shortstop all weekend as his longer legs and quick first step allowed him to get to nearly everything. The 5-foot-10, 155-pounder possesses wiry-athleticism with confident, twitchy hands on the infield, and showcases the ability to flick throws from all angles with adequate, solid-average arm strength across the diamond. Still developing strength, his right-handed stroke will be aided by more physicality in the future, and his speed will continue to be an asset. I was impressed by his attention to detail in pre-game as he took a mature approach to getting ready to play the game.

Made some difficult plays look easy and made an easy play look difficult as the ball skirted under his glove. Don't be misled by that play, the UCSB commit is a very good defensive middle infielder with athleticism that is off the charts and the arm to make throws from every angle. And his range is exceptional to both sides. At the plate he appeared dialed in during his at-bats where he fouled off several pitches and made hard contact.
