3/3/19: A smooth athlete with an average frame at 6-foot, 185 pounds. DeLuca is an above average runner who can handle the bat from both sides of the plate. Offensively he flashes a contact approach with a flat barrel path thru the zone. More lift in swing as a lefty. Best time down the line on this look was a 4.27 from the left side. Light on his feet in center field during pre-game. Moves with ease and has simple, low effort actions. Arm strength is slightly below average but throws are consistently accurate. Plays hard and does all the little things right. (Jurik)
8/20/18: Having just finished his freshman year for the Ducks, Deluca made quite an impression in the Cape. A 5-foot-11, 180 pound switch-hitter with good rhythm, a soft stride and compact swing path from both sides, he slashed .296/.369/.368 this summer. Looked to have better balance and a bit more power from the left side. Plus runner with good acceleration; ran 4.13 from the left and 4.27 on a chopper from the right side down the line. Also ran 3.28 on a steal of second base. Above all else, his high motor and passion for the game excited me the most. He gets after it and loves to play. Overall, Deluca does not possess any big physical tools that the draft typically pays big money for, but he does have the sixth tool of makeup which most often separates the big leaguers from the rest. As a draft-eligible sophomore in 2019, he is one to watch and will likely be considered towards the back half of Day Two, depending upon his signability. (Seifert)
