Bay Area World Series 2020 (BAWS) - Uncommitted; Lean lithe body, the raw stuff isn't eye-catching at this stage of his development but he is a quality strike thrower with ability to change speeds with a full repertoire. Flashes the spin that suggests as he gets stronger the stuff will jump.
1/25/20
PBR Norcal Preseason All-State - Max FB 79, FB 77-79, CB 68-69, CHG 73-74 PITCH: Lean and lithe 6-foot-1, 150-pound body that is still clearly some time away from physical maturity. There are a lot of positives in place and if/when the size and strength comes along, Peterson could make a quick jump. He showed feel of three pitches, a good delivery with body control and clean arm action. Hooks the rubber with cleat before gliding down the slope (does somewhat close post foot which can sap some hip torque), compact backside arm action that gets to a high 3/4 slot. Quick paced delivery with some body actions that could create deception. Occasional fastball tilt with good change-up fade off the fastball arm action. Curveball with bite deep enough into the zone to get soft contact though more gets more lateral break than depth. Slight adjustments to get fingers to front of the ball can create that better depth.
3B: 7.97 60yd, 72 INF, 77 EV
6-1, 150 long and wiry frame with space throughout to keep adding strength to the frame. High hands/high back elbow with slight crouch starting hands above back shoulder; hands pulls back as body shifts backwards on higher front foot. Load creates some stretch as the hips start the swing allowing hands to stay connected to the body; when on time was able to show quicker turns and more lift through the zone (77 EV). Able to read the hops staying behind the ball and showing some ability to open the hips when going to glove side; higher hips and glove. Arm is loose and showed quick hand speed from the lower slot with more available when he hopped on the mound (72 INF).
5/31/19
BAWS 2019 - Long medium frame with high waist and square shoulders; very lean still being young with time for more strength and growth. Hands stay at chest through athletic turn and lift of very high front knee; repeats his delivery well with athletic actions showing flexibility in the hips and legs. Controls the hips and front leg landing firm and online with good brace of body. Arm is compact to H-3/4 flashing some arm speed. FB 75-77 T78 with heaviness having run and sink through the zone arm side. CHG 71-73 straight with late bottom. CB 64-66 showing late short bend in 11/5 shape; flashes of slurvy sweep in the pitch as well. Fought his shoulders for angle during the second outing having some pitches hit hard. Chance for the profile to improve as he matures and strengthens; ability to repeat and get the angle will help his pitches.
