1/5/19 - SoCal Preseason All-State - 5-foot-10, 175-pounds, strong athletic build, with some projection remaining in his frame. Batting from the right side exhibits nice swing with good leverage and barrel controls. Rocha showcased his power bat during his BP round; power really projects. Very impressive bat with a lot of potential. Defensively, Rocha has soft hands behind the plate and anticipates pitches very well. Delivered strong accurate throws to second as well. Pop times ranged 2.04-2.11. Rocha has a raw power bat, to go along with good defensive skills.
8/1/18 - Rocha is a strong, well proportioned catcher at 5-foot-10, 175-pounds who projects for increased strength especially in the upper half where his squared shoulders and barrel chest have plenty of room for growth. Rocha shows excellent hands with quick transfers and present arm strength resulting in accurate throws with some carry. He has quick feet and agility that allow him to explode out of his crouch. Does an excellent job of locating the ball in dirt and on bunts. Plays fast. At the plate he starts with an upright, neutral stance before taking aggressive, confident hacks on the ball. Gets good extension through the ball while keeping his barrel on a consistent path with a middle-middle approach and some present gap power. The power is easily projectable given his present pull-side power.
